Germans are often said to be too quiet! Beware, they often work quietly, without drums or trumpets, but when the time comes to announce something new, it's solid, serious and elegant. That's what just happened with the all-new third- generation BMW 4 Series 2-door sports coupe, which is more powerful and efficient than the previous generation.

BMW Ste-Agathe in the heart of the Laurentians, near Saint-Jovite, Mont- Tremblant and Saint-Jérôme, unveils the new 4 Series coupe.

A Longer and Aerodynamic Car

At first glance, and compared to the previous generation 4 Series coupe, the new 4 Series is 132 mm longer, 25 mm wider, 10 mm higher and has a 40 mm longer wheelbase and 35 mm wider front and 30 mm wider rear tracks.

The front end is striking and features a new large, elongated bean-shaped grille, a new BMW trademark, which also meets the highest cooling requirements of the most powerful engines. The grille slopes forward and extends to the bottom of the front bumper cover. The arrow-shaped lines of the bonnet meet at the level of the radiator grille, while the air curtain inlets at the edges of the front bumper highlight the width of the 4 Series. The profile of the new 4 Series coupe also shows very clean, minimalist lines.

The premium cabin is clearly distinguishable and is now focused on the driver, who is at the centre of the interior design of the new 4 Series coupe. It features power front sports seats and newly designed leather sports steering wheel as standard. The raised centre console creates individual space for front passengers. The M Sport Package and M440i xDrive coupe models offer additional soft knee padding on the sides of the centre console, as well as an M- Sport steering wheel and door-sill plates with the M logo.

The central display screen flows into the instrument cluster area to form a congruent unit. The lighting functions are operated from a button panel to the left of the steering wheel. The on/off button is now located in the centre console along with the newly designed shift lever, iDrive controller and driving experience control switch buttons. Finally, the rear seat with integrated headrests is designed for two passengers and features a 40:20:40 folding function.

In addition, all models in the new 4 Series benefit from increased power and torque compared to the models they replace. For example, the new 430i xDrive coupe is powered by an updated 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged BMW TwinPower engine producing 255 horsepower (an increase of 7 hp over the previous version) and 294 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 36 lb-ft). The 430i xDrive coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h (210 km/h when equipped with all-season tires).

The new M440i xDrive coupe is powered by the 3.0-litre, BMW TwinPower inline- six engine producing 382 horsepower (an increase of 62 hp) and 369 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 39 lb-ft). The M440i xDrive coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and can reach an electronically limited speed of 240 km/h (210 km/h when equipped with all-season tires).

All in all, the Germans show that performance and luxury go hand in hand; all it takes is a good dose of ingenuity and talent, as only the Germans know how to do.
